Skövde Basketball tournament abides by SBBF´s rules with local changes. The current tournament rules are (liable to future adjustments):

  • A player is not permitted to play in different teams within the same age group
  • A team that plays an unapproved player will be debited the sum of 5 000 SEK: the invoice is sent directly to the club involved. In addition, such team will be disqualified ant sent home.
  • A player must have played in the group play to be allowed to play in the playoffs.
  • All participating players must be licensed by their respective districts on behalf of the club.
  • The match time is 2 x 16 ineffective time. Time is paused when the whistle is blown, when points are scored as well as during the last two minutes of the second half.Time  is stopped at time-outs  throughout the game. 
  • Halftime break is three minutes.
  • Time out may be taken once per team and half.
  • Substitutions take place every time the referee blows the whistle, but it must be done at the scoring table.
  • The team whose name comes first in the schedule known as team A, will play in light jerseys while team B plays in dark jerseys. Teams could interchange jersey colours provided they agree within themselves to do so. 
  • There are only game balls available at every gym. You are therefore, advised to come with your own balls for warm ups
  • There is no guaranteed time for warm ups on the court. The schedule is very tight.
  • We are obligated to promote Fair Play during the tournament which means (among other things) that a team is not allowed to actively try to "blowout" the other team. This rule applies after a 25-point lead. In the event of violation of this rule, the coach of the leading team is issued a warning. It this continues even after the warning, the coach of the leading team is penalized with a bench technical foul.
  • It any player or team personnel commits a criminal act during the tournament, he or she will be immediately suspended from further participation and sent home. Such person will also be reported to their club, basketball district and possibly reported to the police.
  • Consumption of alcohol is prohibited on the presmises of the tournament and smoking is prohibited both indoors and outside the classrooms, canttens and bus stops.
  • Games ties are determined by over time where "sudden death" is applied. Even free throws are decisive in sudden death. Sudden death start with a jump ball. A and B finals wil be decided on with an over time of three minutes. Teams will keep their team fouls from the second half, no time-outs.
  • Zone defence is allowed for age groups 2006-2009. Zone pressure on the front half of the court is allowed for age groups 2009,2010,2011 & 2012. Easy basketball rules can be found in the tab under rules EB-2013/2014.
  • The 24 seconds rule is applied and judged by the referees.
  • All games are played on high hoops except for 2013/2014 age groups who will play on lower hoops and smaller courts. However, full-sized courts are used in the A and B finals.
  • Boys within 2006-2010 age groups play with men´s ball size 7. Gils within 2006-2012 age groups as well boys within 2011 & 2012 age groups play size 6 balls. Easy basketball boys/girls of 2013/2014 age groups play size 5 ball.
  • Players who will be participating in the tournament must not have played for a different club after 31st of January
  • No -dunk ruleapplies throughout the tournament- be it before, during or after games. Referees can call a technical foul before and during the game if this rule is flaunted. Any point made from dunking does not count.
  • A free-throw shooter has 5 seconds to shoot from the time the referee hand over the ball. In the event of violation, points and future free throws are cancelled. The all is also handed over to the defending team.
  • Protests must be submitted immediately or no later than 30 minutes after the end of the game. A protest fee is fixed at 800 SEK per protest. The fee must be paid in connection with the protest to the Competition Council office located at Arena Skövde. Submitted protests are handled by the Skövde Basketball Disciplinary team which consists of the tournament management and the personnel in charge of the referees Roger Owebratt. The fee is refunded if the protest is approved.

TEAM PLACEMENT

If two  teams have the same number of points in the final table of the group play, the team that won the head-to-head match up game is placed ahaed of the other.

It three or more teams end up with the same number of wins, the placings are determined based on the following:

1. Number of wins in head-to-head match up games.

2. Point difference in the head-to-head match up games

3. The total point difference in the entire series.

4. Total number of points scored in the entire series.
